Graphic Tee’s: Your Closet Staple

One of my favorite staples in my closet is a graphic tee. Graphic T-shirts are a versatile (and comfortable!) a must for everyone’s wardrobe. I can confess that I have a mild obsession with them. Typically it is the first thing we grab for on a lounge day, but a graphic tee works just as well paired with a statement necklace, denim, or bold earrings.

There’s a vast selection because it’s Amazon, and I usually find a lot under $20. I’ve been pleased with the softness and quality of all my tees, and as always with Amazon Prime, you can return it if it’s not what you expected.

We all buy everything on Amazon.

So why not graphic tees?

Father’s Day Gift Guide!

Can you believe Father’s Day is next week? And guess who hasn’t shopped yet? That’s right, this girl right here! Let’s hope Amazon Prime does not disappoint.

As you may or may not know, I live in Southern California, and my Dad lives in rural Pennsylvania. We aren’t usually together for the holiday, so I like to get him something funny and practical. Last year I planned and got him the Divvy socks with my face on them. Funny and kept his feet worn. I did receive a coupon code for their site with I will share. Look like a Million Bucks in an under $30 Amazon Find!

Have you ever bought a piece of clothing off Amazon, and you thought this was nothing like the photo or description when you received it? I have and thank goodness for Kohls for taking all my returns. Well, this Amazon dress is all that and a bag of chips! I originally bought this dress for our Costa Rica vacation in February and wished I had more than one color. It packed like a dream, took up minimum space, and didn’t wrinkle. What more can you ask?

Here are a few ways to style it.

You can also use the dress as a cover-up for your summer beach/pool days. I should also add that I’m not big on wearing dresses and typically on wear when I’m on vacation. However, in the southern California heat, this dress is excellent for the office, brunch, or a backyard BBQ. I did a size XL based on the reviews but probably could have done a large. I do like that it is a little loose, so there is no tugging or it riding up when walking.

Can you believe I’ve been a Stella & Dot Ambassador for eight years? It is true what they say, “Time flies when you are having fun.” I am still doing trunk shows/styling events. How to clean your jewelry

Has cleaning your jewelry ever been at the top of your fashion to-do list?  It may have never even crossed your mind as being something you could do yourself! We all have that one Stella and Dot piece that has been worn so much, you can’t even remember what it looked like in its earlier days.

Having your jewelry professionally cleaned every few weeks can get really expensive, really quick. There are definitely ways you can routinely clean your rings, bracelets and other baubles with homemade jewelry cleaner from supplies you already have on hand (baby shampoo does wonders!)

It is important to remember that not all jewelry is made equal. Be sure to double check the type of metal your pieces are made from before choosing a proper cleaning method. If you aren’t sure, just ask me!

Here are a few simple ways to clean your different types of jewelry at home:

SOAP AND WATER

The easiest way to clean any of your jewelry is just good old fashioned mild soap and water. Just combine two cups of warm water and about three drops of dish soap or a gentle laundry detergent. After rubbing the jewelry with your soap/water, rinse and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.  Be sure to avoid paper towels, as they can scratch your jewelry. Allow the jewelry to air dry completely before placing back in your jewelry box or wearing.

BABY SHAMPOO FOR COSTUME JEWELRY

It is important to remember that certain jewelry cannot withstand certain cleaning methods – in fact they can cause more damage than good! For your favorite costume jewelry all you need is one drop of baby shampoo and water. Use a q-tip or soft toothbrush to rub away any dirt or verdigris (that green gunk that is notorious for appearing overnight on your jewelry). After you rinse clean, use a hairdryer to completely dry before storing away (this helps avoid deterioration and rusting!)

BEER FOR GOLD

If you are looking to really get your gold shining like new, crack open any light beer and get to work! Just dampen a cloth with a bit of beer and gently rub your gold pieces to lift away any grime. This should leave your 24k gold looking brand new!

CLUB SODA FOR DIAMONDS AND GEMS

Another pretty common household item that can help out your diamonds and other gems, is club soda. All you need to do is pour a glass of club soda, drop your favorite rubies, diamonds and sapphires in and leave overnight to soak. Take out the following morning and admire how shiny your stones have become!

CONVENTIONAL JEWELRY CLEANER

If you would rather use a pre-made cleaning solution, you can always purchase a Jewelry Cleaning Pack from me for $19. If the piece is a bit more important to you (a family heirloom, antique or engagement ring) it is safe to get a proper cleaning and tune-up from a professional jeweler once in a while.

While keeping up a jewelry-cleaning routine might feel daunting, there are definitely preventive measures you can take to protect your jewelry from the start. Be sure to take off all jewelry when applying lotion, makeup, washing your hands and exercising. Store your pieces away and put back on once you are clean and dry to avoid scratches and unwanted dirt build up. If you want to be extra-cautious, take off your jewelry as soon as you get home and store pieces separately to avoid the different metals effecting one another.

Join a Book Club

We tease that we have a wine club with a reading problem. I joined a book club that had already been going strong for about 4 years. It started with a few ladies that went to school together and over the years a few others have joined. We were neighbor friends, coworkers or just friends from a different circle.

Currently, have 11 members. How our book club works is we meet on the second Thursday of every month. Each member hosts once a year they make us a delicious dinner and they also get to pick the book for their hosting month. We used to take the summers off because of traveling kids being home but everyone’s kids are older now we might do a Happy Hour on the summer month.

Our “readers” are a mixed group. I would say 60% do audible and 40% read a book or from an e-reader. At least 3 of us actually have library cards that we use. Personally I do both. Typically I am using listening to a book and reading one. They have to be polar opposites in story line so I don’t get them confused but their are so many options out there it isn’t hard to find something.
